Happy accident

I quote: "....I've been doing this professional photography for quite a while now and a couple years ago I realized that sometimes you can have some "happy accidents". Happy accidents are those unique things you find that simply "make" the photo special. Usually they're things totally unplanned and just happen. They can be strange lightning effects, patterns that emerge in the composition, a weird angle that looks really cool, or background elements that have some type of unexpected symbolism. You just never know what it's going to be, but if you look hard enough, you'll find these things that will "make" the photograph. Without the happy accident the photo is unremarkable, but with it, it's magical. Keep a look out of those happy accidents..."

I took a picture while ago, and by the present day I am still having the same question by friends, clients, and sometimes people I don't even know, ha ha! "Is that picture photo shopped?"....And it happens to be just, a happy accident.

I was giving a workshop about portrait lightning with my mentor and some friends. At certain point on the discussion we decided to make some test with the lightning, so I grabbed my Nikon Micro Nikkor 60mm Macro to photograph the eye of a girl. By the time I fired my first shot I didn't exactly focus where I supposed to, the eye. Instead I did it on the reflection of her eye and I got this "self portrait" kind of picture of me...and all of us were like "WTF?"

So I told the people to stand behind me and smile, to see if we could make a portrait group that way, and the results are here. So keep shooting and shooting, you never know what are you going to get.

Enjoy! :)
